We take the inquiry, scope the on-site work, and schedule the visit. Tell us the site and the sport, and we assess the ground conditions and drainage, then put the full scope in writing before anything is booked.

Freeze-thaw cycles crack surfaces that were laid without adequate sub-base compaction or surface slope. Mountain-terrain lots need grading plans that account for runoff before a single inch of base material goes down. Our written estimates list base preparation, drainage provision, concrete or asphalt base, acrylic color coating, regulation line marking, fencing, and lighting as separate line items.     We schedule a site visit. The visit assesses soil conditions, natural drainage, slope, and access before any estimate is written. No remote quoting from satellite images.

    Review the Written Scope

    You receive an itemised estimate covering sub-base compaction, drainage, base material, acrylic surfacing, line marking, fencing, and lighting as separate line items. No work is booked until you agree the full scope.

  4. 04

    Complete the Walkthrough

    When construction finishes, a final walkthrough is completed before the job is signed off. You review the finished court against the agreed scope and raise any questions before closing the project.

  • Do you build the courts yourselves?

    No. Roanoke Sports Courts is an inquiry service. We schedule the on-site evaluation and construction. All ground work, surfacing, and installation are part of that scope. We manage the process from first contact through to the final sign-off walkthrough.

  • Why does every project need an on-site visit before a price is given?

    Ground conditions, soil type, natural slope, and drainage all affect the sub-base specification and the total cost. Clay soils common across the Roanoke Valley require deeper compaction than sandy or loam sites. A phone estimate cannot capture those variables, so a site visit is the only way to produce an accurate, itemised scope.

  • What areas do you cover?

    We cover Roanoke, Salem, Cave Spring, Botetourt, Bedford, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and surrounding Southwest Virginia counties. If you are unsure whether your location falls within the service area, submit an inquiry and we will confirm.

  • What happens if I delay getting a worn court resurfaced?

    Surface cracks allow water to penetrate the base layer. In Southwest Virginia’s freeze-thaw climate, that water expands and contracts each winter, widening cracks and lifting the surface. A court that needs a recoat today can require full base reconstruction within two or three seasons if left untreated, a significantly higher cost.

  • Do I need a permit to build a backyard sports court?

    Permit requirements vary by county and municipality across the Roanoke and New River valleys. Some jurisdictions require a grading or impervious-surface permit, others do not. The site evaluation identifies the applicable permit requirements for your project and includes any filing steps in the written scope.
